Birding – March 19, 2019

After last week’s rain-out, today was a beautiful day.  Temps in the mid 50s and rising quickly, under sunny skies.  We had 33 birders, and 39 species of birds.  We went south along the Anza Trail, then into Ron Morris Park for the hawk watch, then back on the trail north to the beginning.  The woods going south to Bridge Rd. were quiet but 3 Common Black-hawks rose from the trees, along with the a few Turkey Vultures and a lone Zone-tailed Hawk.  The Park produced more black-hawks, with 5 spinning fairly low overhead.  Gray Hawks were heard only.  The trip back north again produced most of the smaller birds, with a Hepatic Tanager and 3 different warblers high in the trees.
